Marathon Church exists to build a community that loves Jesus, loves people and lives on purpose. We Believe ... In Loving Like Jesus "Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13 Jesus said this to His disciples. We need to remind ourselves that in those terrible hours Jesus hung on the cross, it was all about love. We can't comprehend that kind of all-consuming, all-powerful love, but we can spend the rest of our lives living in wholehearted response to it. Everybody’s Welcome Marathon Church is a place for people in every stage of their spiritual journey—a place where you can belong even before you believe. We believe that you belong here, no matter what background, social status, ethnicity, political views, etc. You are welcome. In Doing Life Together The truth is, we need each other. We need to trust, rely on and depend upon other believers. God gave us each other to walk alongside, encourage and spur one another in the faith. The writer to the Hebrews says, "And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near" (Hebrews 10:24-25). In Living On Purpose Many people go through life feeling discouraged about themselves and thinking they do not have a purpose in life. But that’s not true. Whoever you are—whatever your life experiences, talents, physical ability, or role—you have a purpose. "For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." Ephesians 2:10 All Things Are Possible Do you sometimes find yourself facing a seemingly impossible situation? With God, there is always hope, no matter how bad things look. Nothing is impossible with God. His power makes all things possible.

Seacoast Church - Greenville
At Seacoast, our mission is to help people find God, grow their faith, discover their purpose, and make a difference. Accomplishing that mission goes beyond the weekend experience. We believe it’s important to find a community to help you live out your faith. We’re committed to impacting our church, our communities, and our world. Our Story Seacoast Church began in an apartment clubhouse with 65 people in February of 1988 and has grown to more than 14,000 attending every week at our 13 campuses. Our vision has always been to reach unchurched people by speaking the language of the modern culture, and provide a place that encourages non-believers to investigate Christianity at their own pace. We approach the historical Christian faith in a contemporary, unconventional way. We’ve created a seeker-sensitive atmosphere that aims to welcome all people, no matter where they are in their spiritual journey. Learn More Pastors & Staff We’re more than a staff; we’re a family. We are dedicated followers of Jesus, who use our unique God-given talents and passions to spread God’s Word across the globe, as well as to help one another grow and follow the calling God has placed on our lives. Every campus has its own personality, but together, we are Seacoast. Learn More Our Beliefs At Seacoast, we believe the Bible is the sole basis of our faith. It is uniquely God-inspired, trustworthy, and the final authority. Based on the Bible’s teaching, there is one God who sent his Son for our sins by dying on the cross as our substitute. By the Holy Spirit believers are drawn to Christ and equipped for personal growth. Our aim at Seacoast, as the Church, is to glorify God and make him known Learn More Worship While Seacoast is one church with many locations, we’re confident that no matter which campus a person attends, they will experience powerful worship. A special part of every service is Response Time, which gives everyone the chance to consider what God might be asking them to do in response to the worship and message. Learn More Conferences At Seacoast, our conferences include amazing worship and inspirational, practical teaching from gifted speakers. Our goal is to equip and empower people to make a difference in their families and communities. Learn More Children Kidscoast is the children’s ministry of Seacoast Church, ages birth to 5th grade. Our children’s services are held in exciting learning environments and filled with worship songs, crafts, and Bible stories that teach God’s Word at an age-appropriate level. Learn More Students Custom is the student ministry of Seacoast Church for grades 6–12. Students are an integral part of the Church. We know the teenage years can be some of the most challenging and formative in a person’s life. We create environments that value teenagers and help them discover for themselves who Jesus is, and what a relationship with him looks like Learn More Men We believe God acts through the men of Seacoast in powerful ways. Regardless of age or background, from businessman to outdoorsman, there are plenty of ways to get involved in our Men’s Ministry. When men care about the heart and the things of God, they become unstoppable. Learn More Women No matter what stage of life you’re in—single, married, a mom, or an empty-nester—we believe women need to share life and laughter, as well as their faith and struggles. Small groups meet throughout the week, to discuss a variety of topics, from biblically based nutrition and Christ-centered fitness, to book studies that inspire and connect women. Learn More Married Life Married Life is the marriage ministry of Seacoast Church. We offer lots of opportunities for couples to strengthen their marriage, no matter what season they’re in—from newlywed to golden anniversary, from full house to empty nest. We believe all healthy marriages need to be surrounded with a supportive and thriving community. Learn More SEU Seacoast At Seacoast Church, we are committed to equipping the next generation of leaders and investing in their future. Our partnership with Southeastern University (SEU) allows us to help students pursue their educational goals in a Christian environment and become influential servants in their careers and communities. II Corinthians 5:17   Core Beliefs   Inspiration of Scriptures:  We believe all scripture is given by the inspiration of God and is therefore the infallible Word of God, in so far as it is correctly translated from the original writings. II Timothy 3:16, II Peter 1:21 The Godhead:  We believe there is one living, true, eternal and everlasting God of infinite power, wisdom, and goodness, the Maker and Preserver of all things, visible and invisible. This one true and everlasting God is preeminent in this world as the Holy Spirit is poured out upon all flesh in this dispensation. This one true and everlasting God was eminent in His creation as Emmanuel, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the supreme sacrifice for the sins of the world. We believe that no man can come to the Father but by and through the Lord Jesus Christ, and His shed blood. John 1:1, 14 & 18, John 14:6-11 Judgment on Adam and the Whole Human Family: We believe all mankind became sinners as a result of the fall of Adam. Romans. 5:12, Romans 3:28, I Corinthians 15:22-23 Repentance:  We believe in repentance toward God and confession of our sins; a definite turning from them is essential to Salvation. John 24:27 Water Baptism:  We believe in water baptism for believers by immersion, as taught in the scripture, and as practiced by the early church. Acts 2:38, Acts 8:16, Acts 10:48, Acts 19:5, Romans 6:3-6 Baptism of the Holy Spirit:  We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit accompanied by the evidence of speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance, and that it is the endowment of spiritual power for Christian living and service, and it will enable the believer to manifest the gifts of the Spirit as outlined in: I Corinthians 12 & 14, Luke 24:29, Acts 1:8, Acts 2:4, Acts 10:44-46, Acts 19:1-6. Divine Healing:  We believe God is still the Healer of His people, and that the Church should recognize and practice this ministry, as directed by the Lord Himself and practiced by His Apostles and disciples. Exodus 15:26, Isaiah 53:5, Mark 16:18, James 5:14-15, Hebrews 13:8 The Lord's Supper or Communion:  We believe that all followers of Christ should partake of the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper in remembrance of His death until He comes again. Luke 22:19-20, Matthew 26:29, I Corinthians 11:23-24 The Gifts of the Spirit:  We believe that the nine gifts of the Spirit should be manifest in the Church today, and that all Spirit-filled believers should earnestly covet the best gifts for the edification and building up of the Church. I Corinthians 12:8-11, I Corinthians 14:1 The Fivefold Ministry:  We believe that God has set in the Body of Christ Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors, and Teachers. Their offices are gifts from God, placed in the Church, filled by people who are to fully equip the people of God for the work of the ministry, the unification of the Body in faith until it is complete in Christ. Ephesians 4:11-6 The Fruit of the Spirit and Godly Living:  We believe all Spirit-filled believers should produce the fruit of the Spirit in their lives, and their walk should be according to godliness and holy living. Galatians 5:22-23, I John 2:6, I Peter 1:16, Titus 2:11-3, II Corinthians 7:1 Giving:  We believe that all those in the Church of Jesus Christ should support the work of the ministry with tithes and offerings. Mal.3:8-12, Luke 6:38, Luke 11:42, Acts 20:35, II Corinthians 9:7, Hebrews 7:1-10 The Second Coming of Christ:  We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ will return in person to Earth for the purpose of translating His Church at a point in time designated by God. John 14:1-3 The Final Judgment:  We believe that there will be a final judgment as recorded in the Word of God. Hebrews 9:27, Revelation 20:11-15

WHAT WE BELIEVE – Humankind and Sin We are all created in the image of God, which means all people are of great value. Our desire to live life our own way is what the Bible calls sin, and sin separates us from God. We need to be rescued from this eternal separation from God. (Genesis 1:27, Romans 3:23, Isaiah 59:1-2, Colossians 3:5-6)   Salvation Jesus paid the penalty for our sin by dying on a cross, making a way for us to be reconciled to God. We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. We cannot make up for our sin with self-improvement or good works. We must accept the free gift of forgiveness offered to us through Jesus’ sacrifice. (Romans 6:23, Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 10:9-10) Eternity People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. Heaven and hell are real places of eternal existence. (Hebrew 9:27, Mark 9:43-48, Matthew 25:31-46) Trinity There is one God in three persons: God, the Father, is the Creator. He is holy, perfect, and powerful. (Gen. 1:1, 1 Peter 1:16, Psalm 92:15) Jesus, the Son, came to earth as fully God and fully man. Born of a virgin He lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died on the cross for mankind and thus, paid the penalty for our sins through the shedding of His blood. He rose from the dead on the third day, ascended to the right hand of the Father, and will return again in power and glory. (John 1:1 and 14, Philippians 2:5-6; I Timothy 2:5-6) The Holy Spirit is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He indwells the life of a believer with power for living, an understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. He gives every believer spiritual gifts. (John 14:16-17, 16:7-13, Ephesians 1:13) Bible The Bible is the authoritative Word of God. It is the final authority in determining truth. In its original writing, it is divinely inspired and trustworthy. (2 Timothy 3:16; II Peter 1:20-21; Proverbs 30:5) The Christian Life This life is marked by constant submission to God’s Word and the Holy Spirit. Obedience to Him comes as a result of His great love for us and a trust that His ways are better than our ways. (1 Thessalonians 5:23, 2 Corinthians 3:18, Isaiah 55:8-9) Sacraments We believe the following have sacred purpose: Baptism is a way for us to publicly declare our new life in Christ. It is a step of obedience for a follower of Jesus (Acts 2:41, Romans 6:4). Communion is a time for believers to remember the broken body of Jesus on the cross and His blood shed for forgiveness of sins (Matthew 26:26-28, 1 Corinthians 11:23-26) Marriage is defined by the Bible as a covenant between one man and one woman and is a picture of the relationship between Jesus and the Church (Matthew 19:4-6, Ephesians 5:31-32).
