Much of it is helpful, and teaches us new things. But often the teachings we get about our faith from outside sources can be contradictory to each other, and to the Bible itself. We must use wisdom when evaluating the source of a teaching.

Isaiah Thomas was one of those. He is remembered in the Bible world for printing the first illustrated Bible in the former colonies. But prior to that, he was also known as a staunch supporter of independence and the rebellion. He printed an "underground" newspaper called the 'Massachusetts Spy.' He was pretty notorious, and had his original print shop raided and confiscated. This didn't deter him, as he just moved operations a few cities over, and kept printing his paper!
